Principles of personal development
Part of the 2008 Teacher
Training course
Duration: 6 weekends, approx 1 weekend per
month
Cost : £220 per weekend, payable at the beginning of the
module or by monthly standing order
The Principles of Personal Development course has two
primary objectives. First of all, students are brought
face-to-face with their ideas about themselves. By shifting
the way we see ourselves and by learning about the
principles, concepts and transactions which drive us, we
can learn to be more effective and rewarded in all our
transactions, including the educational ones. In this part
of the course, topics include the power of a paradigm,
cognitive errors, the broadcast theory of teaching, the law
of detachment, transactions, and the three levels of fear.
Students read selections from many different Alexander
teachers. The readings provide a basis for understanding
some of the differing opinions in the work and the sources
from which these opinions spring.
